WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?

LADIES - A sports bra is essential, and you should train in clothing you feel comfortable in. A t shirt or vest and leggings, tracksuit bottoms or shorts is usually acceptable for beginners

If you attend a taster session, the club will usually provide you with gloves. Bag gloves are inexpensive and available at most sports shops

To spar or compete you will need a gum shield
-
You can buy specialist boxing boots, but for beginners, a pair of trainers with good support is usually good enough
-
Bandages help protect the hands and knuckles, but consult your club

Cardenden Boxing Club provides a safe environment for competitive boxers to train and compete in the sport of amateur boxing, by teaching boxing skills that generates discipline,respect, honour, self-control and a healthy life style.
While our primary function is the training of our competitive boxers, the gym is also available to other groups in the community, such as keep-fitters.

Sessions include technique, bag work, sparring, skipping, circuits etc. A good level of dedication is needed for boxing and you will be worked hard to gain a high level of fitness. Equipment is available for use. You will not spar until the coaches are confident that you have achieved the required standard to do so.
Even if you have never boxed before, have done some a while ago or you are quite competent but lack fitness to get back into the sport of boxing, then these classes are for you. But you do need to come with desires to be competitive. The coaches are all qualified AIBA instructors and PVG checked. They will push you very hard and expect everyone to endeavour and be dedicated. Boxing is a tough sport, but the rewards and enjoyment are very vast in the way of confidence, fitness, self defence and discipline.
Come along with a clear view that you would like to compete if you reach the required standard. Be sure you want to give it your best. Only the most dedicated, talented and determined will succeed.
